Radical Dzogchen in Israel
Thurs April 18th - 28th
Thurs April 18th: Evening: the Trekcho and Togal
Core
Sat. April 20th: All-day: Radical Tantrayana
Sun April 21st-Fri 26th: Evenings: Trekcho and Togal Practice
Sat April 27th: Meditation Retreat
The Dzogchen view is inspiring and exhilarating and the
pointing out introduction frequently draws aside the intellectual and
emotional veils of mind’s true nature. We will begin this series of Dzogchen
meditations there with the pointing out instruction. But I want to take this
opportunity in Israel to transmit the core of the Cutting Through (trekcho)
and Direct Crossing (togal) precepts that may nail down the flashes of
realization into a constant stream of praxis during the Urban Nonmeditation
Retreat and final day-retreat.
Introductory Talk
The Trekcho and Togal Core
Thurs April 18th
Time: 19:30-21:30
Place: Tel Aviv, Seminar Ha'Kibutzim
I will present my most recent translation The Great Secret of Mind:
Special Instruction in the Nonduality of Dzogchen at the introductory
talk. This work is an exposition of Dzogchen by one of the most brilliant
younger Tibetan tulkus, Tulku Pema Rigtsal. This compilation of Dzogchen
precepts reveals the innards of Dzogchen like no previous translated text.
Available from Amazon or direct from the publisher (Snow Lion). I will have
only a few copies with me.
Saturday Retreat
Place: Integral Dojo, Tel-Aviv.
Sat April 20th
10:00 – 12:30, 2:30-5:00
Tantra in Dzogchen: Radical Means to Buddha and Vajrayana practice.
Urban Non-Meditation Retreat
Place: Bhavana House, Tel Aviv
Sun April 21st - Fri 26th
Daily: 6:30 -21:00
(Fri 26th 11:30 - 14:00)
Dzogchen contemplation, known better as non-meditation,
is the core of Cutting Through and Direct Crossing. Each evening we will
take a different avenue of approach to the nonmeditation. This simply
sitting meditation is the goal of all kinds of Buddhist meditation,
including Shamatha and Vipasyana. It is contemplation of nonduality; it is
awareness of pure presence that is the great perfection.
Saturday Retreat
Place: Sangha House, Tel Aviv
Saturday 27th
10:00 - 5:00
Dzogchen view and meditation for those who did the
Urban Retreat and anyone who has sat with me before.

Outer Rushen Retreat
Thursday May 2nd -
Sunday May 12th
Near the village of
Prasas, near Chania, in the wilderness of Western Crete
Outer Rushen is unique to Dzogchen
praxis. It may provide the opening up that years of conventional Buddhist
meditation cannot deliver. It is designed to cut through obstacles to
experiential realisation of the nature of mind. The Tibetan tradition
demanded that individuals or couples lived out in the mountain wilderness
alone for weeks or months. Although this is still the ideal mode of
practice, the difficulties of finding secluded wilderness and a solitary
place have resulted in the type of Outer Ruzhen Retreat in a controlled area
where we are free to express ourselves without inhibition and without
interference. Anyone with an unconditional commitment to Dzogchen is welcome. The schedule for each day provides an optimal amount of
time in solitude and attendance at the Dzogchen
presentation and communal
meals is voluntary.
This Rushen is the first to be
scheduled in Greece. The location is a wild wooded area of western Crete
ideal for the rushen and the weather will be cool enough to keep us on our
toes. Everyone who attends will have had the Dzogchen pointing out
instruction.

Commitment (noncommitment)
is the entire story in Dzogchen. We need nothing else but commitment to the
nature of mind, the great perfection. This urban retreat will be an
investigation of the meaning of commitment in Secular, Mahayana, Tantra and
Dzogchen. We will do meditations and nonmeditation in each event. It is
strongly advised, though not required, that participants commit to the
entire week of events, and also to any entire event, so that continuity is
obtained and a useful connection with the teacher is fostered. Freedom
cannot be delayed! EHMAHO!

Dzogchen: Pointing Out
The
Nature of Mind
The nondual vision of Dzogchen is mind's natural
perspective but from childhood we are conditioned to a dualistic view. The
"pointing out" instructions remind us of our intrinsic awareness, the
awareness that is the great perfection and thus constitute the imperative
Dzogchen initiation and nonmeditation instruction. The pointing out is
accompanied by ritual and purification exercises.

Espacio Dharmakaya
Dzogchen, the distilled essence of Buddhist
Tantra offers us easy access to nondual experience. I invite Chilenos
in celebrating the beauty and joy of radical Dzogchen in a general evening
exposition open to all based upon The Three Precepts of Garab Dorje, the
essential instruction of the first Dzogchen Guru. Then in a weekend of
contemplation -- the view and nonmeditation -- we shall explore more deeply
the nature of Dzogchen commitment through the four samayas and the inner
rushen exercises best revealed in Longchenpa's Original Perfection.
Radical Dzogchen implies an already
existing deep existential understanding: it would be beneficial if those
wishing to join the weekend teaching first attend the evening talk.

Dzogchen: Pointing Out
The Primordial Yoga of the Here and Now
Full awareness in the moment is realization of the
Dzogchen. Initially, the imperative is to identify and experience the nature
of mind which is the meditation and that is done through the traditional
pointing out instruction that constitutes the view. The view and the
meditation comprise the introduction to this pathless path of Dzogchen.
Exposition of The Three Incisive Precepts of Patrul Rinpoche open up
this Dzogchen Mandala. This introduction is supported by Dzogchen ritual and
purification exercises. This seminal retreat should be retaken again and
again by all those who aspire to Dzogchen awareness.
